Blackburn Roves 0-4 Arsenal

Arsenal began their long distance from the best week in style with a comfortable 4-0 victory at Blackburn on Saturday.

Theo Walcott England hero created by the first Robin van Persie in the eighth minute. But after that Emmanuel Adebayor took centre stage. The asintiĆ³ a first home just seconds before the break, slotted home a penalty in the 81 th minute and hooked home his hat trick goal in injury time.
...
Blackburn were competitive in the opening 45 minutes but faded badly after the resumption. Arsenal were efficient rather than style, but was needed quality this afternoon. They have now played six games this season, winning five and giving only one.

It is a proud record, but that will be severely tested this week as Arsenal continue this journey to travel to Kiev and Bolton - a total of 3400 miles.

Speaking of travel, Jack Wilshere started on the path to glory Arsenal this afternoon. His substitute appearance made him the youngest player to appear in a league game for the club in just 16 years 256 days.

In the accumulation Wenger has indicated that another teenage prodigy, Walcott could be left on the bench after his exploits week in Zagreb. After all he only moved position. Emmanuel Eboue retained his role on the right to the 19-year-old switched to the left.

In fact, Walcott was the only change to side that hammered Newcastle two weeks ago. But there were big changes on the bench with young Kieran Gibbs, Ramsey Wilshere and Aaron among all appointed replacements.

Blackburn were lively early, mostly through Brett Emerton. The Australian yielded low cross from the right would be a continuing danger in the opening period, but it would be Arsenal, which took their chances.

It grabbed the first in the eighth minute. Walcott picked up the ball on the left side, Dart field, a couple of hurdles and challenges fed Van Persie just inside the area. The Dutch led ably to run the ball across his body then stabbed a shot beyond Paul Robinson and into the far corner of the net.

Blackburn could have responded immediately. Arsenal did not clear their lines and the ball ran loose on the edge of the area. Roque Santa Cruz was the first to react, but slipped a shot over the bar with the help of a slight deflection off Kolo Toure's head. A key moment.

Arsenal could have made Blackburn pay an immediate penance. Adebayor led a three-man break and fed Walcott on the left. The former Southampton star set himself to run sidefoot shot into the far corner slices, but his effort well wide.

In general, however, Blackburn responded well to going behind. Arsenal seemed happy with his goal and allowed the home side more space to move forward. Wenger's men were happy to cash in on where they could rest.

Despite inviting the pressure, that policy should have brought a second goal on the half hour when an unmarked Van Persie fired into the sidenetting after collecting the ball six yards.

But Blackburn had beaten after his slot and probably deserved to draw level before half-time. First Santa Cruz scuff an effort wide, then Steven Reid went close and then finally Keith Andrew somehow not convert a low cross from the right. At the last minute of the half Paraguayan striker asintiĆ³ more in the rear.

However, it would be a sucker-punch. Deep into injury time, Denilson floated across a crusade to invite the far post at the head of Adebayor. The striker from Togo had the simplest of jobs to head home his first Premier League goal of the campaign.

Blackburn tried to rally in the opening minutes after the resumption but quickly fizzled. As a result, Arsenal took the ascendency by creating a series of clear opportunities.

Walcott threw out almost an exact copy of his opener on Wednesday in England, Eboue's piledriver was tipped over the bar by Robinson and then somehow not Toure to turn a corner only four yards.

Blackburn still competitive, but it seemed they had run out of ideas. Nine minutes from time, Arsenal ended when the argument Eboue down under a challenge from Stephen Warnock and Adebayor drawn from the house in cash.

Wilshere came in the final stages to break a record and Adebayor headed home his third - the fourth Arsenal - on the whistle.

It was his 50th goal for the club.

Full-time, players were quick visit to thank the fans to clothing and head.

They had to get home as soon as possible. It is a great week.

However, had started the right way.
